NCPO gets low marks after 4 years: Suan Dusit Poll | Bangkok Post: news


The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) scores 5.42 out of 10 points for its achievements four years after taking over the country's administration in the May 22, 2014 coup, according to the result of a survey by Suan Dusit Rajabhat University or Suan Dusit Poll. The poll was carried out on 1,346 people throughout the country on May 15-19 to compile their opinions on the performance of the government under the NCPO during the past four years. The respondents rated the NCPO's achievements at 5.42 out of 10 points. Asked what has satisfied them during the past four years, 56.45% said the country has been free from violent street protests; 30.88% cited suppression against corruption, drugs and dark influences; 24.65% restoration of order at various public places; 18.20% development of the transport system including the high-speed train projects; and 17.05% assistance to low-income people. To the question of what has dissatisfied them, 41.78% said the economy is in the doldrums; 34.22% cited corruption in various government projects; 19.66% slow responses to problems; 15.31% injustice in the use of Section 44; and 13.23% low farm prices.
